Overview
Claused ("we", "our", or "us") is built on a simple promise: your contracts are yours. We built this product for freelancers and founders who need fast, trustworthy contract analysis — not another data broker. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We encourage you to read it. It's short.
What We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. That's it. We don't ask for your name, phone number, or any payment information beyond what Stripe captures during token purchases.
Contract Text
When you submit a contract for analysis, the text is sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) for processing. We do NOT store your contract text on our servers after the analysis is complete. The response — clause summaries and risk assessments — is returned to you and temporarily cached in your session.
Usage Metadata
We record token usage counts and timestamps so we can enforce your balance, detect abuse, and show you your history. We do not log the contents of your contracts alongside this metadata.
Technical Logs
Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamps) are retained for up to 30 days for security monitoring and debugging. These are not tied to your account data.
What We Don't Collect
We do not: • Sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties • Build advertising profiles based on your usage • Store the content of your contracts after analysis • Use your contracts to train AI models • Share your email with marketing partners
Third-Party Services
Google Gemini (AI Analysis)
Your contract text is sent to Google Gemini for analysis. Google processes this data under their API terms. Gemini API data is not used to train Google's models. See Google's API privacy terms for details.
Stripe (Payments)
Token purchases are processed by Stripe. Claused never sees or stores your raw card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
Cloudflare (Infrastructure)
Our application runs on Cloudflare Workers and Pages. Cloudflare may process request metadata at the edge. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Data Retention
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings, which will purge all associated metadata. Contract analysis results stored in your scan history are retained until you delete them or close your account. We do not retain the raw contract text itself — only the structured analysis output.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data: • All traffic is encrypted via TLS 1.3 • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage • Our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare's zero-trust network • We do not log sensitive contract content to persistent storage No system is perfectly secure. Your Rights
You have the right to: • Access the data we hold about you • Correct inaccurate account information • Delete your account and associated data • Export your scan history • Opt out of any non-essential communications To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@claused.com or use the settings in your dashboard.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify users via email if the changes are material. Continued use of Claused after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
